Crafty Challenge for Two Scrapbook Friends

Good Morning, one more week until my summer holiday begins. At Two Scrapbook Friends forum, it was my turn to provide a crafty challenge.  I'm excited to share a single layout with you today using "Simple Stories - Summer Fresh." I love creating a page layout when I have a lot of photos to tell a story.   

This week, I want you to create something in denim style. This challenge is just perfect for any boy or girl that loves denim!

Simple Stories - Summer Fresh is bright and cheerful with so many wonderful happy quotes and images.  I find myself doing that a lot with all the Simple Stories collections...such an added bonus that all the fun paper elements can be turned into embellishments too!

Sketchy Challenge with Two Scrapbook Friends

Good Morning! It is Wednesday and that means we have a new sketch to reveal today.  Who's ready for this SKETCH challenge with me? I pulled out one of my old layouts that I designed in 2007. I drew this sketch for this challenge and it made me wanting to do another layout.

Faux Wood Embossing with Distress Ink

GTIF!!  Today is my turn to do Friendzy Friday for Two Scrapbook Friends.  I am pleased to demonstrate the Faux Wood Embossing with Distress Ink.

The materials you will need for this project...

-white cardstock
-wood grain embossing folder
-Cuttlebug
-Blender tool for distressing
-three different shades of Tim Holtz Distressing ink pads
-Martha Stewart Scoring Board or Scor-pal


1. Starting out with a piece paper of white cardstock. Cut 4 by 5 1/2 white cardstock

2. You will need a blender tool to ink the cardstock. I would suggest you to choose the lightest colour Tim Holtz Distressing Ink.  I used Brushed Corduroy ink.

3. Insert inked paper into wood grain embossing folder.  Cuttlebug or Sizzix will do the wonder .

4. Go the next ink colour, I used Distress Vintage ink and blend the ink onto the paper to give it more colour.

5. Take out your scoring board.  Flip your cardstock upside down..

6. Place the paper in verticial position

Scoring column (vertical) first, then rows (hortizontal). 

Column,

Score at 1/2, 1 1/2, 2 1/2,  and 3 1/2

Rows

Rows 1, 3 and 5 - Score at 1/4, 2, 3 1/2 and 5

Rows 2 and 4 - Score at  1 1/4, 2 3/4, and 4 1/2

You can see some scor lines show up.

7. Choose dark colour - Tim Holtz Distress Walnut Stain.  You stain the ink directly onto the paper. This will help the scoring lines show up

I wanted to make it look like a hardwood floor.  Isn't it neat?

Welcome to my blog and thank you for visiting Father’s Day Blog Hop with Two Scrapbook Friends.    You should have arrived here from Jan's blog.    Don't you think Jan's creation is fabulous?.

Today, I am going to show you; 'one of a kind' layout.  The layout, I created for my boys' dad; my darling husband.  I wanted to create something different, so I decided to include a bi-lingual approach.  In our household, we use both language; ASL - American Sign Language and English in written format.  Both of my boys are exposed to ASL and spoken language since they were infants.  So I want to corporate a bi-lingual approach, three pictures of my boys signed "We Love You, Dad".  You may spot tiny fingerspell stamped "D-A-D".  And also I included "We Love You, Dad" in English text.  

For the papers, I used Bo-Bunny Weekend Market, these papers are lovely and I wanted to use all of them.  After thinking about what I can do with them, crazy quilt came to my mind and I decided to create some faux crazy quilts on large fonts.  These papers are masculine and they are gorgeous to work with and use on any "dad" or men in your life.

My boys adore their dad and he will do many things for them, by playing with them, cuddling with them, helping them with their homework, and giving them some MONEY to buy some goodies.



I hope my creation give you some inspirations to create something of your own.

Canadian Scrapbooker Publication!

I have been sick for several days.  BUT I had to share!! The Summer 2012 issue of Canadian Scrapbooker just came out; and one of my layouts was picked up this issue!!

This is my second publication - which was big for me because it means the first time wasn't a fluke! Ha ha!

LRW Challenge - Wood
