Sketch Challenge for Two Scrapbook Friends

Today it’s all about a sketch!  This sketch uses a variety of shapes, and I challenge you to do the same. You do not have to copy these exact shapes, but experiment with different types of shapes for your papers, photos and other products. Let’s get our layouts in shape together!

I created this page in honour of my MIL. She is going to be 93 years old on Friday. My MIL found a lump in her breast this past summer and she was diagnosis with stage 1 cancer. The doctor had it removed a couple months ago. She is a fighter.

Christmas Online Crop Challenge with Two Scrapbook Friends

Christmas is coming near and Two Scrapbook Friends wants to celebrate with an online crop.  Friends and Design Team have some cool challenges and games for you to play.

Here's my challenge - "My true love gave to me..."
I am sure many of you know the famous Christmas carol of The Twelve Days of Christmas. This carol dates back to the 1600s, and have sparked a tradition that many people around the world follow each year of giving gifts to someone you love for 12 days before Christmas.

Inspiration: Birds Of The Twelve Days Of Christmas - Make a page with at least one ornament in the shape of a bird (bird on patterned paper is not acceptable) unless it is cut to form like an ornament.

My true love gave to me, two cardinals and on my layout, I added two cardinals; representing my two paramount sons.

I hope you will play and don't forget to upload your creations in the forum and gallery.  Be sure to check out our Design Team and the friends' challenge in the forum.

Crafty Challenge: Timeline .... with Two Scrapbook Friends

Good Morning,

My challenge is for you to create a timeline of important events in your life or the life of a loved one over a certain period of time and include bits of memorabilia or journaling notes on your tag or in your bitty bags. This could be a great strategy for scrapbooking multiple experiences over a period of time for which you might not have enough photos or memorabilia to create individual scrapbook layouts.

Here's my creation, "Morning Daily Routine".    I got this inspiration from Creating Keepsake magazine.  I used a variety of fun embellishments to this layout.  I added Maya Road bottle cap from make n' take at Scrapfest.  I used washi tape, Maya Road star pin, brads, rhinestone gems, twine and all the neat embellishments that you may see on my layout.  You may notice small black dots on each bitty bag.   I used black Viva Pearl Pen.  By using this amazing product; pearl pen you can create a wide array of beautiful projects by applying large or small pearl drops to your page or altered project.

Use the theme of time passing for projects, such as ..
*An advent calendar that includes ideas for festive Christmas or Hanukkah activities or journaling about favourite traditions tucked inside the bags.
*A countdown to a much anticipated special occasion such as a wedding with tasks or activities left to do peeking out from each section.
*A chore chart to help organize or document the tasks children do each day to help out around the house.

Have fun and get creative! I cannot wait to see what you come up with. Be sure to upload your creation in the Two Scrapbook Friends Gallery.

Make a Wish!

The first layout was inspired by ScrapMuch November week 1 sketch.  I have used papers from MME and October Afternoon to this layout.  I used thickers alpha and added some aqua glitters to thickers.  I also combined this sketch with a challenge; frugal embellishment by DT Ann at Two Scrapbook Friends. You will notice a cupcake next to the title,  I cut out a portion of household cup cake liner.

Crafty Challenge with Two Scrapbook Friends

Use Old and New Papers....

We tend to buy the latest and greatest stuff that is available to adorn our projects but what about the older stash we still have sitting gathering dust?

So.... Take out something OLD from your stash, and something NEW that you might have just picked up at 2SF.  It’s as simple as that.  It has to be Halloween themed.

Coming Soon!  Harry Potter Part Two

Something OLD:
Martha Stewart “Witch” collection (2010) – background paper; trees with crows
The Paper Lady by Garett McFarland – “Trick and Treat” (2003) – fussy cut the bats

Something NEW:
Authentique Enchanted “Charmed” and “Haunted” – (2012) – orange horizontal
Tim Holtz Kraft Core (2012) – black  (matting, half scallop circle and house)

Design Team Projects for Two Scrapbook Friends

Simple Stories: Harvest Lane
Have you fallen in love with the new Simple Stories; Harvest Lane collection like I have? Autumn is my favorite time of year, so this line just warms me up and makes me anticipate fall's arrival even more.
With rich teal, crisp green, deep red, golden yellow and rustic orange, wood and homemade goodness - our new Harvest Lane is a bushel full of homespun happiness. It is hard to resist using each pattern as I love the florals, polka dots, and so much more.  It's the perfect collection for celebrating your seasonal homemade memories.

I found this perfect photo of my husband, Robert and his sister Angela.  The background of leaves in the photo went well with the colours of the Harvest Lane patterned papers..  I used element cards to the page, they're just perfect subtitle for this layout.

These pictures were taken last Sunday when we were visiting my parents' place in Caledonia.  We drove through the countryside on highway 97 and we found a perfect spot for me to take some pictures.  The tree wasn't ready for FALL but the leaves on the ground, were just right.

I handstitched the leaves and I added some Harvest Lane stickers as journaling. What fun little stickers they have. I liked the country fall feel to the project.

You will notice a place card; Autumn Greetings.    I used cricut cartilage; Straight from Bird's Nest to cut out five different shapes of leaves and created a wreath.   With a 5 X 7 wooden frame, I inserted a large pennant and I added some embellishments onto the frame
